Damballa (or Damballah-Wedo) is one of the most important loa in the practice of Voodoo. Together with his wife Ayida-Wedo, both represented by snakes, he is the loa of creation. Associated with fire, the color white, and of course, snakes, he often speaks in hisses during Rada rites.
